I am involved in teaching at Makerere Medical School as an Honarary Lecturer. I helped set up a fully fledged ENT unit at King Faisal Hospital, Rwanda and started a Postgraduate training program. I am currently helping establish a Head and Neck Cancer service at Uganda Cancer Institute. We have so started a busy Head and Neck Tumor board. We are doing collaborative research on HPV with partners at Case Western Reserve University and running head and Neck Surgical camps.
I am also pursuing research especially in the field of cancer. I hope to further advance training and research in Head and Neck cancer in East Africa.
I hope to get further training in Reconstructive surgery, Skull base Surgery and Laser Surgery. I think these will greatly benefit our patients in Uganda and minimize the need for referrals abroad.
Has graduated at Santos Medical School in 1986, in 1988 concluded his residency in General Surgery at Hospital das Clinicas -University of Sao Paulo Medical School and two years later his residency in Head and Neck Surgery. Since 1991 he is a member of the Head and Neck Surgery Department of University of Sao Paulo. Dr Volpi focused his work on thyroid and parathyroid surgery and his PhD is related to Intra-Operative Neural Monitoring.He is co-founder of Post-Graduate Association of Head and Neck Surgery Department of University of Sao Paulo and Brazilian Society of Endocrine Surgery, Member of Scientific Committee of Latin American Thyroid Society and International Organizing Committee of World Congress of Thyroid Cancer.

Dr. Carmelo Barbaccia did his basic medical training from the Universita’ di Palermo, Italy in 1990. He completed his specialization in Otolaryngology in 1994 from Palermo University. Then he moved to the Head and Neck Department of the National Cancer Institute of Milan until 2004. Dr. Barbaccia worked as a Head and Neck Consultant at Medway Maritime Hospital, Kent, UK from 2004. He also worked at Queen Victoria Hospital, West Sussex, UK since 2007 as ENT Consultant. He was designated Head and Neck and Thyroid Cancer Surgeon for Kent, UK. From 2012 Dr. Barbaccia is ENT Consultant Head and neck Surgeon and Chief of Department of Surgery at the American Hospital, Dubai, UAE.
Tsung-Lin Yang (MD. PhD) is physician-scientist who serves as otolaryngology and head neck surgeon and a researcher in the field of regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, cell therapy, and oncology. He is a specialist in surgical oncology and also an expert in the field of robotic surgery of head and neck. He created new surgical techniques and novel devices to facilitate the application of endoscopic and robotic surgery in head neck, and has the leading surgical number in Taiwan. He also devoted to investigate new application of sonography and explore the new applications of ultrasound-guided procedures in diagnosing and treating head and neck diseases. He made a series of discoveries that defined and revealed the important and prognostic roles of tumor satellites in the head and neck cancer. His lab developed new cells and tissues for clinical therapy and organ regeneration. The major aim of his lab is to take the approaches based on the fundamental strategy of developmental biology to explore the potential technology that can be applied in regenerative medicine, cell and tissue therapies, and oncological treatments. The long-term goal of his research is to improve the treatment and functional outcomes of head and neck patients.
Dr. Mark Zafereo is an Associate Professor of Head and Neck Surgical Oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He holds national committee appointments for the American Head and Neck Society, American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, and he is current President of the Houston Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed journal articles, invited articles, and textbook chapters related to cancer and diseases of the head and neck, and speaks nationally and internationally on head and neck cancers.
Dr Yogesh More is a Consultant physician in the department of otolaryngology head neck surgery at SKMC Cleveland Clinic, Abu Dhabi since 2014. He completed his medical school from King Edward Memorial Hospital in Mumbai followed by residency training in Otolaryngology head neck surgery from BJ Medical College, Ahmedabad. He was a research fellow in Neurotology at the Ear institute, University of Miami, USA. He did his clinical fellowship training in Rhinology& Skull base from Tufts University, USA followed by clinical fellowship in Head neck surgery and Microvascular surgery from University of Kansas, USA. He served as clinical instructor at Tufts University and Kansas University medical centre, USA. His areas or expertise are Thyroid and Parathyroid, Sinus and Skull base pathology.
Dr. Hua Carolyn Yang has been awarded a title of Fellow of American College of Nuclear Medicine (FACNM) since 2014. She was US board certified in American Board of Nuclear Medicine and Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. She graduated from Beijing Medical University, completed her Residency of Nuclear Medicine at Yale University New Haven Medical Center and special Fellowship in PET/CT at Hospital of University of Pennsylvania, USA. Currently, she is practicing a full scope of nuclear medicine, solely covering PET/CT, nuclear cardiology and general NM services and radionuclide treatment at American Hospital Dubai.
LASZLÓ LUJBER is an ENT consultant working in Pécs University Medical School, ENT, Head and Neck Surgery, Hungary.
He graduated and obtained his MD in 1992 and specialized in otolaryngology in 1996. He has a PhD (2004) and a Habilitation (2011), that is the highest medical teaching degree in Europe. Mr Lujber is a fully registered ENT surgeon in Hungary and in the United Kingdom, with Full and Specialist GMC Medical Registration. Mr. Lujber has an international ENT surgical experience as he worked in Tawam Hospital, United Arab Emirates for 5 years and also in Southampton, England for 7 years as a locum ENT consultant. He is a member in many professional medical organizations and societies. He published more than 70 papers in various medical journals, his citation index is over 128 and his impact factor is 33.
Dr. Hani Z. Marzouki was graduated with honour degree from King Abdulaziz University medical school and completed his residency training at McGill University, Montreal, Canada; in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. He then obtained his American head and neck Society (AHNS) accrideted Fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck oncology and microvascular reconstruction from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada.
He is now an assistant professor and Residency Training Program Director (RTP) of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and the chairman of the departemnt of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at The University of Jeddah, Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
His practice is dedicated to General Otolaryngology surgeries, head, neck and skull base oncology and reconstruction, Salivary gland Surgery, Thyroid Surgery and Minimally invasive parathyroid surgery. His research interests include functional surgical and reconstructive outcomes, microvascular head and neck reconstruction, HPV related head and neck cancer, Thyroid and Parathyroid surgery.
My clinical practice is almost entirely devoted to benign and malignant diseases of the head and neck. I am one of the few surgeons in the United Kingdom with expertise in Transoral Robotic Surgery and Transoral Laser Microsurgery for head and neck cancers.
My research interests are primarily on the processes of care, decision making and functional outcomes in head and neck oncology. I have published over 130 papers, reviews and book chapters on head and neck oncology. I am chief investigator for the NIHR funded TUBE trial and contribute as co-investigator and principal investigator for several other national trials. Currently, I serve as Secretary for ENT-UK Head & Neck Society, Chairman of the research council for the British Association of Head and Neck Oncologists, member of the Head and Neck Cancer Clinical Studies Group, National Cancer Research Institute and the Interventional Procedures Panel for the National Institute for Health Research. I have co-edited the fourth and fifth editions of the UK National Head and Neck Cancer Multidisciplinary Management Guidelines, and also co-edit the section on "Head and Neck Disease" for the forthcoming 8th edition of Scott-Brown's Otolaryngology, the leading multi-volume multi-author textbook in the specialty in the world, planned for publication in Dec 2016. I am an Associate Editor for Head and Neck, the top ranked journal in the field, Senior Reviews Editor for the Journal of Laryngology and Otology, one of the oldest journals in the field (est. 1887) and serve on the editorial board for the Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology.

Dr. Jamshed is the Associate Medical Director and Lead Head and Neck Consultant Clinical Oncologist at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre. He has been trained in head and neck oncology from Prince aly khan hospital, Mumbai after completion of the M.S and Diplomate of national board (DNB) in the otorhinolaryngology. He has also been trained in national Cancer Center, japan and university of Pennsylvania in trans-oral robotic surgery.
He has special interest in open conservative laryngeal surgeries, tran-soral laser microsurgery of laryngeal and hypopharyngeal cancers and trans-oral robotic surgery of upper airway .He is author of more than 40 publications on head and neck cancer.
Dietmar Thurnher is Professor for Otorhinolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery and Chair of the Department of ORL - Head and Neck Surgery, Medical University of Graz, Austria
He received his medical training at the University of Vienna. As early as his residency Prof. Thurnher focused on head and neck surgical oncology and head and neck cancer research. He completed his subspeciality training during his Fellowship in Advanced Training in Head and Neck Oncologic Surgery of the AHNS in Toronto, Canada.
Prof. Thurnher´s surgical expertise is in head and neck ablative and reconstructive surgery, open and transoral laser surgery of the larynx and advanced airway surgery.
He is a Fellow of the EBEORL and is also Examiner for the oral exam part of the European Board.
Prof. Thurnher has published more than 80 per rervied papers on the topic head and neck cancer, various book chapters and a textbook of Otolaryngology and is also the cofounder of the Austrian head and neck society.
Balazs is a native and medical graduate of Hungary, trained as an ENT specialist at the University of Bergen, Norway, where he started performing head and neck cancer surgery in 2007. He was subsequently awarded 2 years of super-specialized Head and Neck Surgery fellowship in Australia, in Brisbane and in Sydney.
Since 2010, he serves as a consultant head and neck surgeon at the University of Hamburg, Germany, with special expertise in head and neck oncologic, endocrine, facial plastic-reconstructive and robotic surgery. He is the only proctor and trainer for Trans Oral Robotic Surgery (TORS) in the German-speaking countries and also pioneered Trans Axillary Robotic Surgery (TARS) in Europe, with the very first publication about combining robotic thyroid surgery with vagal automatic periodic stimulation.
He is author of more than 35 PubMed-listed publications with a cumulative IF over 60. He obtained his PhD in 2015 and Habilitation in 2016. Balazs was appointed as Associate Professor in 2016. He is a regular invited speaker on international head & neck and thyroid conferences.

Anil K. D’Cruz MS, DNB, FRCS (Hon)
Dr. A.K. D’Cruz is Director at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India and also Professor & Surgeon, Department of Head & Neck Surgery.
He is an alumnus of St Johns Medical College Bangalore and went on to complete his masters in General Surgery at the Mumbai University. He is also a Diplomate of the National Board of Examinations, New Delhi. In recognition of his professional standing in the field of surgery he was awarded an Honorary FRCS of the Royal College of Surgeons London an honour given to very few of exceptional merit in the field of surgery.
Dr. D’Cruz has held leadership positions of numerous professional bodies in India and abroad. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) Geneva, the largest organization committed to cancer control globally. He has been President of Foundation of Head & Neck Oncology (FHNO), President of Asian Society of Head Neck Oncology (ASHNO), Secretary for the Action Council for Tobacco Control, Task force of Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)& Task force for Chronic Diseases at the department of Biotechnology Ministry of Science and Technology Government of India.
He is actively involved in research in Head & Neck cancers and plays a pivotal role in numerous trials. He has been Global Principal Investigator as well as part of the Steering Committee of a number of multicentric, multinational trials. Some of these include a phase I trial to evaluate the role of interstitial PDT in the treatment of Head & Neck cancers, as well as targeted therapy in the concurrent, adjuvant and palliative settings He has just completed a large study in the management of oral cancers that was awarded the plenary at the 2015 ASCO (American Society of Clinical Oncology). The findings were also published in the New England Journal of Medicine. His other major areas of interest in clinical research are management of neck metastasis, conservative laryngeal and laser surgery, cancers of the oral cavity and thyroid as well as quality of life issues.
Dr. D’Cruz has more than200 peer-reviewed publications and chapters to his name and is also an editor for a two volume text book on Head and neck Surgery. He is also editor of Hamilton Bailey Clinical Signs as well as the Manual of Clinical Oncology, both considered bibles in their respective fields of general surgery and oncology.
He has delivered more than 350 invited lectures and orations both nationally and internationally and has been invited as the Guest speaker at numerous head and neck societies around the world. He is a member of the Editorial Board of Head & Neck, Oral Oncology, Associate Editor of Head & Neck Oncology, Asian Journal of Cancer, Indian Journal of Surgical Oncology, International Journal of Surgical Oncology and a reviewer for several scientific journals both national and international.

I earned my medical degree at Universidad Nacional de Colombia in Bogota, Colombia in 1994 and in 2000 concluded my residency in General Surgery at Universidad de Antioquia-Hospital San Vicente de Paul, Medellin, Colombia and my training in Head and Neck Surgery at Hospital AC CAmargo in Sao Paulo, Brasil in 2006. I also made a MSc in Clinical Epidemiology at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia in 2005, a MSc in Health Economics at University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, Spain in 2010 and a PhD in Oncology at Escola de Cancerologia Celestino Buorroul in Sao Paulo, Brasil in 2007. Since 2012 I am Associated Professor and Head and Neck Surgeon at Department of Surgery at Universidad de Antioquia and since 2016 is Head and Neck Surgeon at Fundacion Colombiana de Cancerologia - Clinica Vida in Medellin. I focus my work on meta-analysis, systematic review and economic evaluations of treatments for thyroid and aero digestive tract tumors. Dr. (Prof.) Santanu Chaudhuri is presently working as Chairman and Consultant ,Radiation Oncology, Nayati Healthcare. Until recently was working as Clinical Oncologist and Director, Oncology Centre of United Hospital, Dhaka, Bangladesh, now continuing with the overseas consultancy.
He had been the Director of R. S. T. Regional Cancer Hospital, Nagpur, under the Ministry of Health, Govt. of India for 14 years till 2013. He is also the Ex- Standing Committee Member, Ministry of Health, Government of India. He holds several honorary Professorships in many Colleges and also part of the Visiting Professor Programme–USA and Australia. He also got UICC scholarship in 2006.
He has done DMRT & MD from Tata Memorial Hospital,Mumbai University followed by DNB .He had extensive work in fields of Clinics and Research in Cancer during his tenure in Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai till 1999.Following which he also did his PGDHM and MPhil. He is the Founder Patron of Snehaanchal Palliative Care Centre, Nagpur which is the only hospice for terminally ill cancer patients in Central India.
His work on tobacco related cancers has been highly acclaimed in World Cancer Congress 2006 in Washington DC, USA and even by the present Prime Minister of India and was nominated as Member of Global Cancer Control Community, UICC, 2007 in Geneva for his contributions in field of Cancer.
He has been honored with several fellowships from U.K, Europe, Asia Pacific, Australia and U.S.A. He has nearlt 100 National and International publications and written many chapters in books related to Cancer Research. He has received several National and International awards and coveted honours in field of oncology including Mahatma Gandhi Peace Award ,Atish Dipankar Gold Medal and Mother Teresa Award in field of International contribution to cancer . Started her clinical career in Mafraq Hospital from 1993 – 2007 then joined Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) thereafter. Dr. Mustafa has been the lead physician of the Thyroid Cancer program in SKMC since 2013.
From 2005 – 2007, She held an honorary position of Assistant Professor of Medicine in Gulf Medical College of Ajman (UAE).
She has been a key member of the SKMC Research & Ethics Committee since 2010.
Research interests include Women Health, Thyroidology and research appraisal & critique.
Dr. Aaron Han is Chief of Pathology at American Hospital Dubai (AHD), the first private lab in the Middle East to obtain the prestigious College of American Pathologists (CAP) accreditation. He is a graduate of Baylor College of Medicine MD-PhD program and received his pathology training in the USA, completing a hematopathology fellowship at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is certified by the American Board of Pathology AP/CP and Hematopathology and is elegible for the Clinical Informatics Board. In addition to professional duties in diagnostic pathology, Dr. Han is chair of the Hospital Performance Improvement Committee which oversees quality and Joint Commission International Accreditation preparation. He chairs the Physician IT Advisory Group that guides the adoption of electronic medical record at AHD and computerized physician order entry (CPOE). He is scientific chair for the Emirates Pathology Society, and speaks regularly in the region and internationally on issues related to lab management and cancer pathology. He chairs the Big Data Conference at Arab Health Conference. A Fellow of the CAP, he is an international Lab Inspector and a member of the Point of Care Committee.
Rainald Knecht is Professor for Otolaryngology Head and Neck surgery and Chair of the Department of ORL,Head and Neck Oncology University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf/Germany.
Rainald Knecht received his medical training at the Medical School of Heidelberg and Freiburg. After education in general and surgical pathology and scientific residencies in oncologic departments of renowned international Universities like MDA Houston and the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York he completed his education as specialist for Otolarynology Head and Neck surgery with main emphasis on Head and Neck Oncology.
Rainald Knecht’s surgical work includes endoscopic surgery, reconstructive tumor and tracheal surgery as well as functional laryngeal surgery. Also trained in medical oncology he is working on induction chemotherapy and targeted therapy drawing the line between surgical and nonsurgical approaches in multimodal tumor therapy.
Prof. Knecht is author of more than 150 papers on the topic of head and neck and other cancers published in international peer-reviewed journals. He has been Investigator and PI in 32 Clinical studies. He is member of numerous national and international medical societies and is in the boards and advisory boards of peer reviewed journals and research committees. He is founder of the German Society for the prevention and for the sponsorship of research of laryngeal cancer and is/was member of the Steering Committees of several Cancer Societies like EORTC(HN group).
Dr Rakesh Katna, did his graduation at Indira Gandhi Medical College, HP University, Shimla in 2004, did his postgraduation in Otorhinolaryngology in 2009, then worked in Tata Memorial Hospital Mumbai. He joined Tata Memorial Hospital in 2009 and did Sekhsariya and HBNI fellowship in head and neck surgery from there (2009-13), following which he joined Bombay Hospital as consultant Head & Neck surgical oncologist. He did fellowship in endoscopic thyroid surgery from National center of endocrinology Hanoi,Vietnam in 2015 and robotic surgery (TORS & robotic thyroidectomy) at Seoul, South Korea in 2016. Currently he is working as Consultant Head and Neck Surgeon at Bombay Hospital and Jaslok Hospital and has a keen interest in TORS, Endoskullbase surgery and Minimally invasive thyroid surgery.
I did MBBS and MD Radiodiagnosis from KMC Manipal, and then did super-specialisation, 2yrs Fellowship in Cancer Imaging at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, India. Recently I have completed Masters in Translational Cancer Medicine (MRes) from Kings College London. Presently I am working as Assistant professor in the department of Radiodiagnosis at TMC and as part of my service I have been actively involved in the routine patient service and care in Department Of Radiology with special contribution to Head and Neck, Thoracic and Neuro-oncoloy working groups in TMC.
I got trained at ACORD 2010 workshop and RSNA clinical trial methodology workshop for high end research. My research work has been acknowledged nationally and internationally.
On the basis of my research in the field of Radiology I was awarded as Young Radiologist of the Year Award for 2010 by IRIA. I have also been acknowledged By RSNA, ECR, ACORD AND AACR and have been awarded free life time membership: with member in Good Standing for year 2010. I was Awarded international researcher travel grants for RSNA 2010, ECR 2012, 2014, UAE cancer congress 2012.

Dr. Mousa A. Al-Abbadi finished medical school in 1986 from University of Jordan. He did one year of rotating internship at Jordan University Hospital. He joined the residency program in Pathology at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida in USA. He finished his residency training 1995 and became a diplomat of the American Board of Pathology in both Anatomic and Clinical Pathology the same year. He did a year of fellowship in Cytopathology in the same institution in 1996 after which he received the certificate of American Board of Cytopathology. Dr. Al-Abbadi went back to Jordan where he joined the faculty of School of Medicine of University of Jordan. He served as the Chief of Pathology and Residency program director at Jordan University hospital for 3 years followed by one year as staff pathologist in Jordan Hospital. In 2001 he moved to USA where he became a staff pathologist at the Department of Pathology of Wayne State University. In 2003, Dr. Al-Abbadi became a fellow of the International Academy of Cytopathology and received the certificate of the International Academy of Cytopathology board. He became an Associate Professor in 2007 and then moved to hold the position of Chief of Pathology at the James H. Quillen Veteran Administration Hospital in Johnson City, an affiliate with East Tennessee State University. He became a Professor of pathology in 2008. He then moved to Saudi Arabia as a Professor of Pathology and Cytopathology at King Fahad Specialist Hospital – Dammam, Saudi Arabia. He recently joined the pathology team at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Dr. Al-Abbadi has an expertise in Cytopathology and in particularly the field of Fine Needle Aspiration. He is an active member of numerous national and international professional organizations, received teaching and leadership awards and published more than 85 publications in peer reviewed journals and is the Editor-in-Chief of “Salivary Gland Cytology: A color Atlas” that was published in 2011. In addition, Dr. Al-Abbadi is currently certified as CPHQ and CPE (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality, Certified Physician Executive). He is currently a member for the working group to establish the Milan system for reporting salivary gland cytopathology.

Dr Faris is a Head and Neck and Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgeon and completed his medical degree from St Bartholomew's Hospital London then undertook his Otorhinolaryngology training in the UK. He was awarded the Joseph Scholarship from the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery to complete a one year facial plastic reconstructive fellowship in Holland and France. He undertook a one year head and neck and microvascular reconstructive fellowship in University of British Columbia, Vancouver Canada. Dr Faris has worked as a Consultant Specializing in Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery and Head and Head Oncology at Queens Medical Centre (Nottingham University Hospital) UK, and Dorset Cancer Centre UK. Currently he is undertaking a fellowship in facial reanimation surgery in the Department of Facial Plastic Reconstructive Surgery at Mass Eye and Ear, Harvard Medical School. He is the National Delegate for the European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery for the United Kingdom. He was was presented Claus D Walter Award for Academic Excellence by the International and European Board for Certification in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. His interests include complex nasal reconstruction, facial paralysis/reanimation, head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstruction.
Dr. Salim Chaib Rassou; was graduated as Medical doctor on 1988, Constantine ALGERIA. He obtained his specialist diploma with outstanding rate on 1992, from Bourgogne University under supervision of Pr J.C Horiot. Post graduation Diplomas, one in breast diseases and another in breast imaging. He worked in different hospitals in France and hold different positions as senior staff.
He took part in different phase III trials as investigator, mainly in head and neck cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer... He passed with success the French national competitive for (praticien Hospitalier) and holds this position 3 years.
Keeping in touch with all the new development in Radiation Therapy, by attending several courses and congress (average of more than 200 CME hours per year). His main interest, H&N, Gynaecology, Breast and Brain tumours Co-author of 3 major’s publications and 5 abstracts.
After introducing 3 D CRT in all cancer localisation in his previous position, he started a new challenge at AHD by introducing state of the art radiotherapy technique with RapidArc and Breast Gated IMRT and in charge of developing new other techniques such Stereotactic Radiosurgery and HDR Brachytherapy project for 2012
Dr Alrawi is currently the Director of all Surgical Oncology Services at Alzahra Cancer Center in the Heart of Dubai and its tertiary referral cancer center for all UAE, hosting highly specialized surgical oncology subspecialties, including Colorectal, Breast oncology, Head & Neck Surgery, Urology, Gynecological Oncology, Sarcoma/ Melanoma and Peritoneal surface malignancy, in addition to pancreatic and hepatic surgery.

Sadir Alrawi, was the Chief of the Surgical Oncology Program at Comprehensive Cancer Center of 21st Century in Jacksonville, Florida from 2008- 2013.
Prior to that, Dr. Alrawi was an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery/Division of Surgical Oncology at University of Florida, Jacksonville. Dr Alrawi trained in various Academic institutes in Surgical Oncology all over including Roswell Park, Cancer institute, Buffalo, Royal Free Hospital, UC of London and Ninewells Hospital, U of Dundee

Sheng-Po Hao, MD, FACS, FICS is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Otolaryngology of Shin Kong Wu Ho-Su Memorial Hospital and Program Director of Otolaryngology in Fu Jen Catholic University in Taiwan.
Dr. Hao is a specialist in both Head and Neck Cancer Surgery and Skull Base Surgery. He has published hundreds of articles and book chapters on the subject.
Dr. Hao was the Myers’ International Lecturer on Head and Neck Oncology in 2014 AAOHNSF convention. Dr. Hao was invited to give numerous lectures in several international meetings including the Keynote Lecture in Seoul IFOS in 2013. He was invited to give courses and workshops and teach all over the world. He has been invited to be visiting professor in some distinguished university, such as Yale, University of Pittsburgh and Seoul National University.
Dr. Hao is a reviewer in more than 30 SCI journals, and also served in the Laryngoscope as Editorial Board member.
Dr. Hao is currently the President of Asia Oceania Otorhinolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery Societies. Dr. Hao is also the founding President of Taiwan Head and Neck Society, Taiwan Oral Cancer Prevention and Therapy Association and the past President of Taiwan Skull Base Society. He is also the founding President and currently the Secretary General of Asian Society of Head and Neck Oncology. Dr. Hao also serves in the Head and Neck Committee and Nominating Committee in the International Federation of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery and also the Taiwan representative in the International Federation of Head and Neck Oncological Society.
Dr. Sobia Bilal is currently associated as a faculty member with the School of Dentistry at International Medical University, Malaysia. She has a Master’s degree in Dental Public Health from University of London and a PhD from University of Malaya. Her areas of interest include health-related quality of life of H&N cancer patients, questionnaire validation, cross-cultural adaptation of research tools, qualitative research and mixed methods. She also received a certified training for tobacco cessation counseling and practice for health care professionals under the Malaysian Ministry of Health and The WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC).
She has designed dental curriculum to incorporate tobacco cessation counseling and practice to fulfill the minimal clinical competence of dental undergraduates. She took an initiative to setup a smoking cessation specialist clinic at International Medical University under the recognition of mQuit (Ministry of Health, Malaysia). She is an active lead in a number of social responsibility projects that focus on innovative ways for early detection of oral cancers using telecommunications, offer help to quit smoking at the community level to the socially deprived communities and health promoting schools initiatives.
