Dr. Ashwin deSouza obtained his Masters degree in Surgery from the Mumbai University in 2004 and has subsequently specialized in Surgical Oncology, obtaining the MCh degree (Surgical Oncology) from the Homi Bhabha National Institute, Mumbai. He has also obtained the F.C.P.S (Fellow of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Mumbai), D.N.B. (Diplomate of the National Board), and M.N.A.M.S (Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences,) diplomas and is a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (M.R.C.S.Ed.). Pursuing a special interest in colorectal surgery Dr. deSouza completed a 2 year fellowship in Laparoscopic and Robotic Colorectal Surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago, USA. He is currently an Assistant Professor and Surgeon in the Department of Gastrointestinal and Hepatobiliary Oncology at the Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai, and has a special interest in colorectal cancer with emphasis on Laparoscopic and Robotic colorectal surgery.
